The Starting Line Foundations program introduces middle school students or early high school students to Transition and guides them to identify meaningful postsecondary goals. The Foundations program can be completed in 1 or 2 years depending on the needs of the student or the design of the Transition program.
Each Foundations workbook includes:
- 11 Transition Assessments
- 17 Transition Activities
When districts or teachers begin the Starting Line Foundations program, they purchase one Foundations workbook for each student who will be participating in the program.

Starting Line Foundations Summary:
The Starting Line Foundations program is a student-driven Transition curriculum designed to introduce middle school (or early high school) students to Transition and guide them through the process of identifying their initial postsecondary goals. The program can be completed in 1 or 2 years depending on the needs of the student or the design of the Transition program in your district or classroom.
The program guides students through numerous assessments and activities which are designed to help them explore their wants, interests, strengths, needs and options for (1) Employment, (2) Education/Training, and (3) Independent Living.
By the end of the program, students will have created a Transition Plan Presentation (includes the postsecondary goals they have identified in the program), which they will share at their next Transition IEP meeting.
How to Begin Using the Foundations Workbooks:
Districts or teachers begin the Starting Line Foundations program by purchasing one Foundations student workbook for each student who will be participating in the program.
The Foundations workbook is perfect for introducing Transition to middle school students and/or early high school students (9th or 10th graders).
